Paraguay’s restaurant scene has been gaining momentum in recent years, with a variety of mouth watering dishes and cuisines from around the globe.

After living in Paraguay for the past year, I can absolutely say that Casa Clari restaurant in Paraguay is one of my top go-to restaurants, with stunning views, in the city of Asunción.

The History and Origins of Casa Clari

Casa Clari Restaurant is housed in a stunning colonial-era building, showcasing the architectural charm of Asunción’s historic center. The property’s preserved facade and intricate details harken back to a bygone era, making it more than just a restaurant—it’s a piece of living history. The ambiance within the building evokes nostalgia, blending seamlessly with modern touches to create a welcoming atmosphere.

This architectural gem sits proudly in Asunción’s downtown, an area known for its cultural and historical significance.

Casa Clari isn’t just a place to eat; it’s a cornerstone of Asunción’s evolving cultural scene. With its mix of traditional and contemporary elements, the restaurant has positioned itself as a must-visit destination for those seeking an authentic Paraguayan experience – with a stunning view of Palacio de Lopez!

No visit to Casa Clari Restaurant is complete without sampling their signature cocktails. Their mixologists are known for creating drinks that celebrate local Paraguayan ingredients, such as yerba mate and tropical fruits.

One standout drink I recommend trying is the Caipiroska Guaraní, a twist on the classic cocktail that uses fresh lime and sugarcane spirits for a refreshing burst of flavor.

Casa Clari’s food menu is a celebration of flavors, offering something for everyone. Paraguayan classics like sopa paraguaya and chipa guasu are a must-try for those looking to explore local cuisine. The menu also caters to international tastes, featuring dishes like gourmet pizzas and pasta.

I have visited Casa Clari multiple times, and I almost always get a pizza and pasta to share – the flavours are local and bursting with flavour.

I also recommend requesting to sit outside if possible, as that is where you will get the stunning view of Palacio de Lopez. There is indoor seating, however the views won’t be as breathtaking.

Location and Accessibility

Reaching Casa Clari is quite easy, even if you don’t have a vehicle, thanks to Asunción’s reliable transportation options. Taxis and ride-share services like Bolt and Uber are widely available and affordable, making them the most convenient choice for visitors from any country.

Best Times to Visit

Casa Clari is lively throughout the week, but evenings are when it truly comes alive. The weekends buzz with energy as locals and tourists gather to enjoy the ambiance and delicious offerings. For a quieter experience, consider visiting on weekday afternoons when you can soak in the atmosphere without the crowds.

Reservations

If you are wanting to book a table for dinner, you will need to make a reservation via their Whatsapp (link to their Whatsapp is on their Instagram page). Typically when the sun is high, from opening until around 4PM, they don’t accept reservations, however after 4 or 5 PM, they will accept reservations for dinner.

The staff and services isn’t the best you will experience, and I found we often were missing cutlery and cups, and needed to ask several times for these things. However the food is exceptional, and the biggest reason to visit, along with the stunning views you can’t get elsewhere.
