If you’re looking for an amazing place to visit, you need to check out Georgia (the country, not the state in America!)
From Tbilisi, the capital, to some of the most beautiful mountain villages you can find, this country has so much to offer. The people are friendly, and the food is delicious. What more could you need?
Georgia is such an appealing option for digital nomads because 95 different countries can get visa-free access to Georgia for one year.
But make sure to do your research and double-check the visa requirements before booking your ticket, as you may need proof of documents before touchdown.
Pro tip: be sure to visit Tbilisi, the capital, Batumi, by the beach, and the mountain regions bordering Russia. They are all incredible and unique in their own way.
It’s completely possible to open a bank account in just one day as a foreigner. I personally opened two Georgian bank accounts, each taking less than an hour.
You will need to bring your passport (and a W8 form if you’re American) and walk into the bank to get an appointment. There may be a long wait time, so expect to wait between 20 minutes to one hour.
I opened accounts at both Bank of Georgia and TBC, however, I do have a recommendation for which bank is best for foreigners. Soon to come in a future blog post!

Not only that, but the culture and history are incredible – you can explore ancient cities like Madrid, Barcelona, and Seville, and sample some delicious cuisine.
Spain just launched a new digital nomad visa – and it’s open to people from all countries, lasting anywhere from 1 to 12 months.
Plus, you can apply for it from any Spanish consulate around the world. So if you’ve been dreaming of living, working, and travelling in Spain, now’s your chance.
The eligibility criteria for Spain’s Digital Nomad Visa for non-EU citizens include:
To apply for the Spanish digital nomad visa, you’ll need to show that you make at least €2,334/month or €28,000/year (these amounts are always subject to change in the future, so keep an eye out!).
You’ll also need to prove that you have a bank account in Spain, a valid travel insurance policy that covers €30,000 (grab my favourite nomad insurance here) and your passport with your current address.
It’s a good idea to keep a copy of your bank statements to show that you have enough funds to support yourself during your stay.

Estonia is a small country located in the Baltic Sea region of Northern Europe – and it’s a beautiful place to explore. It’s got its own unique culture, traditions, and language, and a rich history that dates back to the Stone Age.
Estonia has a thriving digital economy in recent years and is one of the most environmentally friendly countries in the world. And if you’re lucky, you can even catch a glimpse of the northern lights!
The Estonian e-residency program might not be for everyone, but if you’re looking for a less expensive alternative to your home country, it’s definitely worth considering.
With Estonian e-residency, you can become an e-resident and manage all your documents and process through the online portal. With this e-residency program, any income taxed abroad will not be taxed in Estonia. You can also set up your business and run it remotely from Estonia.
Keep in mind that through this process you won’t become an Estonian or EU citizen.
If you are looking to stay longer in Estonia, the type D visa will be what you need. With this visa, you can stay in Estonia for 365 consecutive days. The requirements to get a D visa include:
From the stunning Azores mountains to the beautiful Algarve beaches, Portugal has something for everyone… including digital nomads!
Although Portugal has had some major changes, and no longer offers their Golden Visa Program, the D7 visa is a great way to stay in Portugal for 90 days every six months.
It’s a great option for digital nomads, entrepreneurs and anyone else who wants to stay in Portugal for a longer period of time.
The D7 visa enables the respective holder to obtain a residence permit in Portugal over one year, which can then be renewed for successive periods of 2 years and can be converted into a permanent residence permit after 5 years.
The best part? You don’t need a certain income or to be able to speak Portuguese. Portugal is amazing, so I definitely recommend checking it out if you can! The D7 visa is a great way to do it.
Single applicants need to generate and provide proof of income of at least €705 per month or €8,460 per year. If you are bringing a spouse with you, you must present a minimum amount of €4 230 per year, for each person.
For any dependant children you may have, you’ll need to present a minimum of €2 538 per year per child.
Bulgaria is a small country tucked away in Southeast Europe, with Romania to the north, Serbia and North Macedonia to the west, Greece and Turkey to the south, and the Black Sea to the east. It’s got a lot of history and culture, plus a unique combination of Eastern European and Mediterranean vibes.
A year-long multiple-entry visa is a great option for foreign citizens who want to stay in Bulgaria for more than 90 days, but less than 180 days per year.
This visa is valid for all of Bulgaria and you don’t need to apply for a residence permit as long as you don’t stay for more than 90 days within a 180-day period.
The Type D visa is a long-term visa that allows its holders to enter Bulgaria multiple times. It is issued for either 6 months or 12 months and is an essential requirement to be considered for a Bulgarian residence permit.
This visa is granted to applicants who wish to enter the country and settle for a long period/establish permanent residency.
The time required for the Bulgarian D visa to be issued is between one to two months.
This visa type could be a good option for you if you are looking to settle or obtain residency in Bulgaria… which may be a good idea if you are looking to optimize your tax situation, as Bulgaria is very tax friendly.
From the hustle and bustle of Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali, to the gorgeous Caribbean beaches of San Andrés and Cartagena, there’s something for everyone in Colombia.
And let’s not forget the delicious food – the arepas, empanadas, tamales, and chicharrones – all made with fresh, local ingredients – what more could a digital nomad want?!
Getting a visa for Colombia as a digital nomad is super easy – you can even extend it for two years if you want.
All you need is a return ticket and a temporary address in Colombia. You can get one of those easily enough from Airbnb or Homestay – just rent a room for a few months and you’re good to go.
Just remember, the visa is only valid for one year!
Staying in Colombia for 90 days without a visa is a great opportunity for digital nomads. Just be sure to leave the country before your 90-day visa is finished, and don’t overstay your visa.
